Frequently asked questions about the FTSE/APCIMS indices
1. What are they & when were they started?
The primary purpose of these indices is to provide private investors
and trustees with a measure of performance against which to compare
their investment portfolios, based upon the assumption they are
domestic investors with sterling denominated accounts. They were
launched in February 1997.
2. How are they compiled?
A survey is sent round to participating APCIMS firms quarterly,
asking them to provide details of their model portfolios. This information
is then collated and analysed by FTSE. The results of the survey
are then put to the Indices committee, who make a decision on whether
the results justify a change in allocations.
